Application of molecular distillation apparatus in fine chemistry.

Molecular distillation in fine chemistry.
Molecular distillation technology can be used in the fine chemical industry for the separation of hydrocarbons, crude oil and similar substances; the purification of surfactants and the preparation of chemical intermediates; the deodorization and decolorization of lanolin and its derivatives; plastic plasticizers, stabilization Refining of agents and refining of silicone oil, paraffin oil, high-grade lubricating oil, etc. In the separation of natural products, molecular distillation is used in the refining and purification of many aromatic oils to obtain high-quality essential oils.

1. Purification of aromatic oils
With the rapid development of daily chemical, light industry, pharmaceutical and other industries and foreign trade, the demand for natural essential oils continues to increase. Essential oils come from aromatic plants. The methods for extracting essential oils from aromatic plants include: steam distillation, extraction, pressing and adsorption. The main components of essential oils are mostly aldehydes, ketones, and alcohols. And most of them are terpenes. These compounds have high boiling points, are heat-sensitive substances, and are very unstable when heated. Therefore, in the traditional distillation process, long-term heating will change the molecular structure and reduce the quality of the oil.

Several aromatic oils such as Litsea cubeba oil, ginger oil, and patchouli oil were purified by using molecular distillation. The results show that molecular distillation technology is an effective method for purifying essential oils and can remove the aromatic oils. A certain main component is concentrated, and the odor and colored impurities are removed to improve its purity. Since this process is carried out under high vacuum and low temperature, the material is heated for a very short time, thus ensuring the quality of essential oils, especially for aromatic oils with high boiling points and heat-sensitive components, which shows its superiority.

In addition, the use of molecular distillation technology to separate citral from the fruit oil of Trichosanthes niger can obtain a product with w (citral) = 95% and a yield of 53%; in the separation of the active ingredients of dried ginger, different distillation temperatures and The degree of vacuum can obtain different types of active ingredients and their relative contents. Adjusting the appropriate distillation temperature and degree of vacuum can obtain active ingredients with higher relative contents.

2. Purification of polymer intermediates
In the process of synthesizing polymers from monomers, excess monomer substances will always remain and some unwanted small molecule polymers will be produced. These impurities seriously affect the quality of the product. The traditional method of removing monomer substances and small molecule polymers is to use vacuum distillation, which operates at a higher temperature. Since polymers are generally heat-sensitive substances, when the temperature is high, polymers are prone to disproportionation, condensation or decomposition. For example, to purify dimers in polyamide resin, conventional distillation methods can only make w (dimer polyamide resin) = 75% to 87%, while molecular distillation technology can make w (dimer polyamide resin) = 75% to 87%. Amide resin)=90%~95%. In the purification of phenolic resin and polyurethane, the molecular distillation method can be used to remove the monomer phenol content in the phenolic resin to w (monomer phenol) <0.01%, so that w (diisocyanate monomer) <0 .1%. Molecular distillation technology can excellently protect the quality of polymer products, improve product purity, simplify processes, and reduce costs.

3. Extraction of lanolin
Lanolin and its derivatives are widely used in cosmetics. Lanolin has complex composition, mainly containing esters, free alcohols, free acids and hydrocarbons. These components have relatively large molecular weights, high boiling points, and are heat-sensitive. Use molecular distillation technology to separate each component and modify the different components physically and chemically to obtain polyoxyethylene lanolin, acetyl lanolin, lanolic acid, isopropyl and wool polyoxyethylene ester with excellent properties. Lanolin series products.
